Compared to the full silicone ice tray I used, this ice tray is much easier to use. I wish I had bought this sooner! Unlike silicone, I don't have to lay it flat or spill half of it on the way to the freezer. It is durable and the grooves around the perimeter do not let water through. Ice sticks come out so easy! If you follow the instructions carefully (see image), especially #2 - smooth the lid with your hand and press to close - the silicone lid seals the water really well. The only thing that wasn't clear in the product description was the shelf angle. It says "Storage at any angle" but that's not correct. The instructions say up to 45 degrees. Update: After a few months the lid started smelling bad as other reviewers said. Now I use it without the lid. My regular ice trays don't have a lid, so not having a lid wasn't a big deal for me. I washed the lid and left it on for a while and the smell was gone so I could use it when needed.
