When we moved we packed our 'permanent' coasters but planned to stay indoors for a few weeks. I decided to buy some disposable coasters as I've had a few in the past that have worked really well. In general they are fine. They absorb moisture well and retain their firmness, but absorb moisture quickly. My daughter left her drink overnight. The next day, instead of the ring-shaped wooden watermark, there was a disk-shaped watermark on the table, the size of a much larger coaster. and the coasters are swapped between guests, they probably work fine. For home use, if you can have a cold drink or three throughout the day, your furniture could be at risk.
