Review on Phanteks PH VGPUKT_02 Universal Vertical Pci by Brad Collins

Purchased for Lian Li o11 Dynamic. After trying at least 3 other adapter cables and vertical GPU mounting solutions (all failed for one reason or another), I found this gem. This $30 device is 50% cheaper than other solutions I've tried. Looking through the reviews I was concerned that this device would (apparently) require some hacking to fit the o11 Dynamic. I'm happy to announce that as of December 2019, Phanteks may have quietly revamped its design. Mine didn't have to cut or saw anything to fit the o11 Dynamic, it just worked. Of course, the installation is not so simple - you must FIRST attach the riser to the bracket. then GPU. THEN put the bracket on the case, which is not easy. Also, the PCIe adapter cable is a bit too long, so it bends unnaturally and takes a lot of stress. Finally, the quality of the metal is a bit poor for super-heavy GPUs (I use an AORUS RTX card and they are 3-slot MONSTER cards). You can add some shims under the bracket to prevent the metal from sagging or bending. This solution is my dream. It works and the result is great. Other than that I was pleasantly surprised. With a GPU mounted vertically, the GPU temperatures dropped by 3-5 degrees Celsius. I think this is because the vertical orientation makes it easier for the GPU to vent hot air up into the case rather than being trapped underneath.
