This lens is very good. I would recommend this to anyone trying to stay in the lower budget lens category without significantly sacrificing quality. If your budget allows you to buy Nikon I would do so. Now Nikon's recommendation doesn't mean it's a bad lens, because frankly it's very good and the differences can most likely be corrected in post-processing. The best way to look at lenses is to compare them side by side with the same settings, lighting and subjects. Both were shot at F1.8, the lowest setting this lens can deliver. The first picture is Nikon, the second is YONGNUO. Nikon seems to have darker blacks compared to YONGNUO and lighter colors before processing, and images appear slightly "white", but these issues can most likely be corrected with photo editing. Personally, if you can't afford a Nikon or want to save money this is a fantastic buy, but if you want slightly better quality then the Nikon is your best bet in my opinion. The build quality of the lens barrel itself is very comparable to Nikon, allowing for both manual and auto focus, but YONGNUO doesn't offer "auto manual" focus where you can still make manual adjustments while shooting in "auto" like the Nikon 50mm 1.8 . All in all, the 50mm lens is a fantastic lens to throw in your camera bag. It's one of the most versatile lenses you can have and offers fantastic background blur when you set it down to a lower aperture value like f/1.8. The decision is yours. Rate photos and make a decision based on cost and your opinion. I hope the review was helpful! HAVE FUN
