Review on πŸ”Š PowerBass OE69C-TY 6x9" 160W OE Series 2-Way Component Speaker System - Unbeatable Sound Quality and Power by Christopher Gulledge

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good sound with amp but beware of poor build quality

I installed them in the front doors of a 15 year old Tacoma double cab. Immediately the wires broke on one tweeter (poor soldering I think) and I found that the tweeter wiring harnesses weren't really plug and play. Maybe they are on other Toyota models? I bought a couple of replacement Revain PowerBass tweeters because they were cheap enough, although I probably should have tried the warranty process. -Channel amplifier designed to put out a whopping 50-60 watts in each direction. The tweeters (replacement) are very bright and the 6x9 woofers have really good and punchy mids. I think, it reflects the squelch and amplifier rather than the quality of the speakers. There are no tweeter crossover settings to control their brightness, so you'll need to adjust your radio's treble to do this (PowerBass only uses built-in soldered capacitors). It's also worthless that I'm using an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with flat EQ, unlike Toyota's OEM radio, which has a terrible EQ (bass reduction) setting to compensate for the under-powered factory speakers. If you're using a factory radio, I don't expect much of an improvement. After all, they sound pretty good and are relatively easy to install. I'll probably replace them with another set of 6x9 components that have more power and a better crossover. to do this (PowerBass only uses built-in soldered capacitors).
