They come with a small rubber O-ring on the female end. After a single installation, the o-ring will collapse and fall out freely if the extension is removed for any reason. I can't even use or trust this part to keep air pressure right on my double RVs. I have too much weight and pressure to rely on this carelessly bad design. Other extensions (Slime and Pacific Dualies) use a flat, reusable elastomer that has a much better positive seal design. I am very disappointed in this Wheel Masters design. I would advise my friends and family to avoid this product.
