First of all, if you want an inexpensive 8-port Need gigabit switch, Good choice. I've had it every few days so can't confirm its longevity. It allows you to configure layer 2 VLANs and multicast segmentation. I haven't configured it yet, but it looks good .I would recommend installing the latest firmware on the device if you understand it There are 4 things I don't like about the switch: - You can't select gigabit and you can't select full/half duplex either.You can only choose Auto, Select 10 or 100 for the port speed .If you want to use gigabit you need to set the port to auto (per) I have 100 Mbps when I put this switch in between (and another en 4 "Cat 6 from the same manufacturer use). When I replaced the cables with other Cat 6 cables, everything was at 1 Gbps. I haven't read the entire manual, but it looks like the link LEDs on 1 Gbps ports differ from 100 Mbps ports, so it's nice to be able to see that without going into the having to go to the GUI. this is 2019 (at the time of review). Why can't I set the username? It only allows me to set a password! Here is your safety. The firmware update process is strange. It looks like the switch will reboot BEFORE downloading the new firmware. It doesn't, but the interface is ambiguous. Be aware of this. And to add to my security whine, it's 2019, why would I find the firmware, download it to my computer, and then upload it to the switch? Just ask the switch to check for new firmware. The price is worth it. There are just a few small things they could do to make it more enjoyable and user-friendly. UPDATE: Already disappointed. After less than 2 days of operation, the web interface stopped responding. I have 5 devices on the switch - 2 Rokus, an Ooma, a Dell Media Server and an uplink to my router. Routers and Dell Gig only. other 100MB. All unicast. There shouldn't be any processing problems. 2% of ping timeouts. It looks like the block is under tension. I will continue to use it but will probably move it to a more peripheral location on my home network.
