This is normal. I got them to replace my Google Wi-Fi. I got them because they accept a wired connection and many other grid systems don't. I ran ethernet through my house so I didn't have to connect each mesh unit directly instead of relying on wireless signal transmission. You have become decent. The app and its obstacles are great. Much cleaner and nicer than the Google Wi-Fi Mesh. - Each device accepts a wired connection as backhaul - You can integrate and work with other tp-Link network systems when you need to expand. Bad: - You keep getting updates in the middle of the day and they are installed locally, which means the system randomly reboots and you have to wait for it to complete. It's anywhere between 5-15 min. This happens at least 3-5 times a week at unexpected times which is why my WiFi goes down. It's very, very, very frustrating because I'm in the middle of work and all of a sudden I realize I don't have wifi or I'm streaming a movie and it cuts out. So annoying. It's good that they install and restart themselves, but they're still annoying. Usually updates are good, but on this system I'm nervous because I don't know when it will restart with an update. I also can't believe how many updates it's getting. Usually hardware is updated very infrequently, but these things are updated at least 3-5 times a week and sometimes twice a day. If they didn't shut down my entire network at random times for up to 10 minutes, I wouldn't mind. Since I can't control updates, I never know when I'll lose my entire Wi-Fi connection - Wi-Fi 6 is so awful it's no longer in existence. I have 300MB internet. When connected to this system via Wi-Fi, I get about 50Mbps on average. I get full speed with a wired connection, but not over Wi-Fi. So that too is very disappointing. Those are the only downsides, but I'd say they're pretty big considering Wi-Fi 6 should be the point to get them, and nobody wants a Wi-Fi system that reboots and on top of that causes you to lose connection frequently and randomly. You also can't delay updates or choose when to install them. They install whenever they want :( UPDATE - stopped random reboots! I don't know why, but it seems that there aren't many updates left. Maybe there were a lot of them before because it was a new model, and engineers often have worked on improving them and now they have made them more reliable 😊 not sure but wifi is much better now - no more nasty surprises or internet freezes updates happen but not that often which is great The rating has been increased to 4 stars.
