I hesitated to buy one of these for years until I started doing some extensive Hi-Fi review projects. Once you use any of these, you'll curse yourself for wasting time and energy on manual spring-loaded suction pumps, absorbent braid, etc. I was concerned about the suction power of a manual device in a device, but this is just amazing. It heats up FAST, doesn't clog if you let it steep for a second after each puff to clear the tube, and the filter works without much attention. The biggest and only "problem" is the lack of a stand and the need to buy additional attachments for some tasks, especially for large items, but just forget about all that and buy this thing, you'll be happy. It's like going from a bevel hand saw to a 10 inch miter saw, such a big difference. Plus, it saves you from damaging components and circuit boards, and makes it easy and fun to remove complex components. I also spent a lot of money and bought a Hakko soldering iron which is also amazing, especially because it heats up very quickly and controls the temperature. I was tempted to try some of the cheaper Chinese options as I'm not a pro but I did am really glad what a little spent on this article. I'm really looking forward to using them and not just tolerating them. The cord is present, and the stiff cord combined with the lack of a stand poses a hazard if an item slips off the table. Make a coaster or something out of a coffee pot and have some things handy to wind the string and you're good to go. Hakko including the second tip with would be nice to enlarge the hole! One last note, some people seem confused because the tips don't have holes. They are pre-filled with solder, there is a hole, it is just soldering. Heat up, pull the trigger, you've got a hole. You don't have to drill anything at all.
