This viewer is solid and relatively easy to install, but you need to know what you're doing. It is important that the mounting hole drilled is orthogonal to the plane of the door surface to allow the viewer to sit flush. I was a little crazy and had to wallow in a hole to get a flush spot on the outside of the door. The viewing side is what you screw on to mount the viewer. It was a bit difficult to tighten the visor as there is nothing to help you tighten the viewer's back. It wasn't clear at what angle the back of the "Swing" viewer should be mounted - with the handle facing up or down on the viewer? It was not clear at what height above the ground the viewer should best be positioned. I installed it at eye level for my petite wife (5ft 11in). There was no installation manual to clarify these installation problems for the DIY enthusiast. I adjusted the viewer handle at the top and over time it loosened and wouldn't stay closed. Adding Lock-Tite solved this problem, but it would be better if I adjusted the viewer with the handle at the bottom instead of the top.
