So far, so good! Best Performance Parts and Accessories

I am writing this review hastily so that I can give my first impressions and observations and add more information as time goes on. First off, I recommend to anyone who likes getting things done on the spot and just refer to the instructions if you're stuck in RTFM before getting started, even if you're a self-proclaimed 5-star backyard mechanic. The reason is that you can spot inconsistencies in the installation steps before you start, not after, and you need to stop and do some R&D to proceed. However, the installation on my 2002 Impala LS was almost seamless, other than a ground strap bolt that broke and had to be drilled out before I could continue and the fact that I still hadn't compensated for the intake knee bracket. what didn't fit properly in the specified spot on my gearbox. (small detail) It took me about 2 hours to complete this as I went step by step and was very careful. (and that doesn't count fiddling with mismatched rubber strips and messing around with matching the plates properly, which they did) Once the installation is complete, my first observations are that a much louder cold-start suction noise will settle down. never mind Faster throttle response, mind you, you're just thinking the car is moving and it's moving before you know it! The biggest first observations. is the fact that prior to installation, every time I parked the car after arriving or driving home from work (22 miles one way), opening the hood was like opening a fully tanked boiler on a coal-fired freight train. Under the hood it was always hot enough to bake potatoes! Now I can open the hood and touch every part under it without burning myself. no ray of heat hit me in the face like a kitchen grill. And the intake manifold, despite being black, is actually COOL, yes I said COOL to the touch. I can only imagine how much colder the intake air is and how much denser and more efficient it makes the engine run. I'm not a hot rodder, but over time I'll report on mileage and performance as I collect data. replaced with a FRAM air filter and removed the intake "silencer". I can already see halfway through this tank that I've put more miles per needle position than usual, but I'll wait until another full tank has passed to post the actual numbers. So far, so good! (Oh, and PS: At the same time, I also went from a single stock muffler to a double Flowmaster Super 44, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I highly doubt it, since mufflers are there more for tone than sound are performance on this car)

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
