I have done extensive research on hormone balancing herbs for women my age having just had an IUD removed after 7 years and have a hormonal one in 6 months Imbalance felt after distance. Most sources suggested burdock root for menopausal women, but I'm in my 30s, so yeah, I haven't gone through menopause yet. But I wanted to reboot my body after so many years of artificial hormones. I also have occasional hormonal acne which is VERY crappy considering my age. I can't be nice with planets on my face and snapchat filters are just disrespectful these days idk. Anyhow, I like it. It seems to have balanced my hormones somewhat, thank goodness, because for the past few months I've been a crying, uprooted, bottomless garbage can. I added some milk thistle hoping I could sprinkle in some liver baptism as well (hormonal imbalances often result in bottle(s) of red wine. Don't judge me, judge your mom). I'd like to say I followed the directions to make the tea, but yolo right? I scooped about a cup and a half into about 24 ounces of spring water and let it marinate overnight. The liquid was dark and after straining twice there were still a few bits of root floating in it, but that didn't bother me. I drink about 8 ounces warm with some honey before bed. I love how smooth it is on its own. For heaven's sake, don't add lemon to your burdock tea. It will ruin the taste forever. And I drink lemon water. I had to make a new batch because it had an odd salty, sulphurous taste. It may have been a reaction to the milk thistle, but I didn't want to keep drinking to find out. The last thing I need is to wake up dead from a chemical reaction in my gut. I can't vibrate with it.
