Residue/Odor - Kitchen & Dining

I hand washed the trays when I received them and immediately used them for ice cubes. Some residue noticed on them. Hand wash them again and I still notice a residue/odd smell. I'll put them in the dishwasher and see if that helps. They are cheaper than the product I wanted to buy but didn't have in stock (Souper Cubes). So far I'm not impressed.
