The Fluke 88 is a great multimeter and probably the best multimeter for the money. I am very familiar with the Fluke 77 and 8600. The 88 combines the best of both and is a good choice for most electrical work. It is suitable for experienced technicians and everyday DIY enthusiasts. The cables in the kit cover most of what an electrician could need. I added large alligator clips so I could clamp the car battery terminals. There are a few gauges that offer more features like higher accuracy or a detachable display, but if you don't really need those features, you're wasting your money.
