This kit works very well. These include a drill, a tap, inserts themselves, as well as a special tool for screwing in dowels. Thread sealant has already been applied to the threads to keep it in place. The kit is designed for metal but I used it on wood and just put a few drops of Gorilla polyurethane glue on the threads to get a good bond (wet the surfaces with water or the glue won't stick properly) . The drill is designed for a 0.5" drill bit, so your ⅜" cordless drill, which is the most common one, will not work. You should really consider including a tapered neck drill bit for use in a ⅜ inch drill bit. But I am assuming they are thinking of drill presses that would normally fit a ½ inch or larger drill shaft. Unfortunately it looks like a helical coil and in most situations a drill will be of little use. Either way, there's no harm in being able to drill ⅜ inches. I bought a ½" drill bit just for this project.
