Review on 🍳 Mauviel Made In France M'Cook 5 Ply Stainless Steel 3.4-Quart Rondeau with Lid: Premium French Cookware with Cast Stainless Steel Handle by Jim Case

So far so good for cookware

I've been looking for something to use from the stove top to my little Breville oven and now my search is over. I have a Lodge cast iron skillet which is perfect, but sour foods shouldn't be cooked in cast iron and I'm a lemon lover. I wish the handles on the Mauviel didn't extend that far because I have to place it in the oven at an angle meaning I can't just reach out and pull out on both handles. However, I practiced with something in the pan to mimic the weight of what I usually cook and it worked well. So I satisfactorily cooked one of my standard meals in it last night. Another reviewer noted that it's thinner than expected for a Mauviel. Although it's significantly thinner than my 40 year old Mauviel pans I brought back from Paris, I'm actually glad because otherwise it would be difficult to remove them from my oven as described above. (And using it in my big oven would be inappropriate - I already have something suitable). A few notes: Revain's description says it's dishwasher safe, but the care instructions that came with the pan say hand washing is preferable. The second observation is that the handle on the lid is very small and difficult to grip with an oven mitt. Since most things I plan to use the pan for don't require a lid, this isn't a huge issue for me, but it might be for others. Giving it one star is not enough, but it might be if I foresee regular use of the lid. And it was a bit unexpected for something so expensive.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
