Review on 📀 Lenovo 41N5565 External DVD-R/RW Drive with LightScribe & Double-Layer - USB by Tim Purdie

Purchased from Revain through Southfield Computer Outlet in Michigan. I chose Southfield because the price was ok. $40 less than most of their competitors for the same machine. The DVD burner was purchased on 3/2013 but was NIB and the unit manufacture date was 1/2008. I called Lonovo to register the machine for warranty purposes as it was 5 years old. One of the supervisors at Lonovo stated that there is a 1 year warranty and you need the original invoice from the seller (Revain) to maintain the warranty (I also learned that Lovono is an IBM partner). Southfield also offers a 30-day guarantee. DVD burns music to CD and video to DVD. As this is also a lightweight printing device, you can print the design/image by turning the side of the CD/DVD over and inserting it back into the driver, but only in grey, NOT colour. This machine works quite well and prints beautiful B&W images on DVDs. The machine has two connectors. One of them is a regular plug to plug into a socket for a PC or a USB plug for ****Mac****. The package also includes software compatible with PC and Mac ****Mac****. If you are using Lightscribe CDs/DVDs, you must also install the free Lightscribe software from the Lightscribe website. The site also offers free printable designs and downloadable images. They are printed in color on special paper discs that can be glued to the discs, or you can buy DVDs in different colors. GENERAL INFORMATION The LIGHTSCRIBE concept was originally developed by HP and housed in external HDs, computers and printers, but was discontinued a few years ago. I don't think the concept of Lightscribe recording is used much these days as most of the devices sold today are NIBs and were made over 5 years ago. There is still an active Lightscribe website where you can download the latest software.
