My stove builder no longer recommends Nest

The other day I was shocked to hear that the person who suggested I buy a Nest thermostat and installed it 2 years ago said they no longer have it recommends. He told me he had six rejections last year. My own Nest worked great for 18 months, but then it was decided that my fan and humidifier should run 24/7. Not the end of the world, but I wasn't in town. Another point of failure and I would freeze, burst pipes or maybe have 150 degrees inside. I contacted Nest and after a long conversation they sent me a new base. I installed it and it made no difference. Then I installed my old non-Nest programmable thermostat and the oven worked great. Looking through the device's menu, I found that Nest released a firmware update around the time the thermostat failed. Not sure if that was the problem but we swapped out the hardware and it didn't help. There are two big issues here: 1) Nest isn't responding at all as the new base wasn't able to fix the problem. They emailed me and replied to mine until I told them the new database wasn't working. Not now. I could call them but they will keep you connected forever. I was able to chat with them but the last chat session lasted 40 minutes. He's still under warranty. They were able to answer my emails. 2) Even though the service was great, buying this item was a mistake. The modern thermostat was invented in the 1830s. This is an extremely reliable, proven technology. In 40 years of home ownership I have not had a single rejection. Then I installed Nest and gave my oven the reliability of a Windows 98 computer. What did I get in return? I didn't have to get up and walk around to adjust my temperature. It lowered the temperature when I was out, just like my old $38 programmable one. I spent $250 on this stupid thing and looks like I'll throw it away.
