For mounting a TV. It works well and is fairly reliable. It makes no sense to me to buy an electronic instrument that is notorious for giving poor readings. You can be sure of that. A few things to note: First, the horizontal plane is bad. Not only does it deviate from the other two levels I have, there are also different readings depending on which side is on the surface I'm leveling. Don't use it for that. but really, you don't have to be. I'm not deducting a star because the tool doesn't address this, but it's a bit misleading and would be better without it. Second, I didn't have to check the center of the stud when installing the TV, since I had two sockets to measure for that. If you play around with this and take a few measurements you can get a really good idea of where the nail is. It will be good enough. My TV mount used fairly large M8 screws (about 1/3 inch diameter).
