We'll start with the cons first: - You need to know either the height of the object being viewed or the distance to it to know anything else. It's not a point-and-shoot rangefinder if that's what you're after. You're a little stocky. The size is large, the weight is slightly above average for hiking. But the pros: - These are impressive binoculars. It's easy to read a street sign at a hundred yards as if it were 20 feet away. One could probably comfortably double that range. Can see details of a car well enough to identify make and model over a full mile (if you can see it by eye in normal mode without reading the symbols). - I haven't tested the water resistance yet but as they are. When I put them together, I don't doubt it at all. - While the rangefinder is kind of crap, the compass is insanely handy and designed to minimize unnecessary batteries - Easy to focus - Despite their weight, they feel almost weightless in their carrying case when you hold them. Understand. But the biggest plus is that their customer service is impressive. Mine arrived with a very small problem and it was taken care of immediately beyond my expectations. They are ideal for bird watching, camping, stargazing or hiking. Their weight is easily offset by their usefulness for navigating a distant target with an internal compass and the ability to preselect a path. 10/10, I will definitely buy again.
