I have an M570 trackball mouse that came with a universal receiver. I've had it for about five years now (more warranty) and it works great. However lately the receiver has become loose in places and only works sporadically so I bought it as a replacement. I connected it to my computer, followed all the steps and it won't connect to the mouse. I've tried everything, restarted my computer, tried every USB port, even called tech support (they said something is wrong with the mouse, which is wrong, the mouse will connect and disconnect with the old receiver until the cows come home). ). Then I noticed that the firmware was newer with the new USB than with the old one, and there was no way to update the old USB or mouse firmware. So now I have to buy a brand new mouse and throw away a perfectly working device because Logitech seems to be losing backwards compatibility. So DO NOT BUY! It makes absolutely no sense. It doesn't work and never will. And sprinkle salt on this wound, irreversible too.
