Review on SRAM Rival Shift Brake Right by Bobby Martinez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Strong lever and shifter attached to a weak body

I bought these primarily for gravel bike touring. I thoroughly enjoyed them until I took one look at the wood and the derailleur housing immediately shattered leaving me at a single speed with front brakes only. The aluminum brake lever and shift paddle as well as the aluminum innards survived without a single scratch. But the cheap plastic case that everything rests on just exploded. It doesn't look like this spare part is available, making them disposable. I think that's why you rarely see brifters on the trail. Damn; liked her. It turns out they're expensive and fragile, probably to save a few grams - it's a shame.

Pros
  • Zero loss
Cons
  • Useless features
