I returned this item as it was not good from the minute I received it. The hardware bag arrived with a nice rust color on the screws and the lining inside the bag itself. The assembly process was small as the machined parts weren't necessarily to the best of tolerances and misaligned. Due to the threads on the screws (the threads weren't long enough) it was not possible to fully tighten the screws during assembly, causing the pole to wobble which eventually buckled and my kayak almost fell over. Cam straps are cheap, don't stay in place, and easily slip off with little effort. Luckily I secured the kayak with an extra ratchet strap the day the trunk dented because I just didn't trust cam straps or kayak holders. I was right about that as the ratchet strap was the only thing keeping my kayak from falling off my car after the retainer buckled causing the kayak to slide off.
