Good value for kayaks, canoes and SUP racks

So far so good with handlebars and gear. It's made for a rounder rod but still works. The straps are unusable because they are too short. Luckily I had some ratchet straps on hand. The instructions were in English but the explanation was different than the picture so you are missing two small brackets. Be sure to mount the longer bar at the front with the narrower end pointing toward the rear of the vehicle.

Thule who? in Camping

Significantly cheaper than comparable J Hooks. Easy enough to assemble. My crossbars are actually ladder racks so I had to buy 8 longer stainless steel carriage bolts and 16 stainless steel nuts, but my bars are a legal 2" and that's not normal usage. When the yaks are on, they stay put. They want to rotate when empty, regardless of bolt torque. (The bars are also perfectly round). I can drill holes through the J hook plates and the bars putting rubber underneath doesn't make them any sturdier.

Good value for money

This was a great deal on J hooks, 2 pairs were supplied so enough for 2 kayaks. The instructions weren't very good, so we watched a few YouTube tutorials to see how to assemble J-Hooks. Unfortunately, we were also missing 8 nuts to attach large bolts. My husband had to run to the hardware store and buy them. Not a big deal but we wanted to install them and go to the store to pick up our new kayaks. We did and the hooks were solid and we weren't disappointed. Tip: Watch a YouTube video on how to

Good deal for $$

I was a little concerned with all the reviews mentioning the lack of hardware and the complexity of assembly. I received all the hardware and an extra package of nuts and washers. The assembly went well. The J-Rods are much stronger than I expected. I would rate this 5 stars except my Yakima poles are too narrow in diameter to fit snugly. So I had to wrap the crossbars with rubber. (Even pool noodles would be perfect to ensure a snug fit.) I haven't tried the straps that came with the product…

Great value, solid racks

This is a great deal for two sets of J-Racks. I was able to flip a set (so the racks support each other) and put my SUP in between. This allowed us to mount 2 kayaks and a SUP on the roof rack of our Honda Oddysey which came in handy. The straps that came with it were clearly too short for this type of setup on my rack, so I used some of the longer ratchet straps I had on hand to tighten everything up. The instructions that came with these racks were pretty good, just read them first. so you…

Almost lost my kayaks

I returned this item as it was not good from the minute I received it. The hardware bag arrived with a nice rust color on the screws and the lining inside the bag itself. The assembly process was small as the machined parts weren't necessarily to the best of tolerances and misaligned. Due to the threads on the screws (the threads weren't long enough) it was not possible to fully tighten the screws during assembly, causing the pole to wobble which eventually buckled and my kayak almost fell…

Strap too short

First of all my assessment after 6 months of ownership. They're quick to put on and the padding stays on when I take them off after each weekend so they don't get damaged in the sun. They hold the kayak well on the J-Rack, but the clamps are a different story. Belt on the verge of uselessness. They are too short (8 feet) for an average 30 inch wide kayak. Drop them and grow 12 feet long. The J-Rack itself is strong and holds the kayak well, but the clamps need a rubber pad in between because…
