Simple and safe - the way fuel spouts used to be before idiots started making fires without using old spouts in a safe way! With common sense, this spout can be just as safe as it was before all "safety" spouts were required. Spouts that caused spills every time I tried to use them! Easy to use and no spills! It even includes a vent that allows fluids to easily flow out of the system. The vent latch is what primarily got me giving it a '3' for safety as the latch on the vent doesn't offer a specific locking method. Also, the spout has, to a lesser extent, the old way of storing it (the spout is turned upside down where the filler is attached). But again, these two weaknesses depend on common sense practice to ensure safety! Please note that as with older spouts, I would not recommend using the cap on the end of the spout as a system closure method. It can also come loose when using the sink and fall into the fuel tank!
