This Soft PU Rocketbook Mini case fits great without pen. I tried putting the pen CLIP in the loop to flatten it closed. However, then the edge of the front/top of the cover didn't align with the edge of the back/bottom of the cover.I really wanted to like this cover. It has a much nicer feel than most PU items and it's the perfect shade of wine. It Would work without using the center pen loop; but that would require carrying the pen separately or adding a Pen Station or loop extending outside the cover. I wanted a cover which ENCLOSED the pen and would lay flat. The whole point of buying a cover WITH an INSIDE pen loop was to NOT have the pen extending from the cover.If the manufacturer used a little extra material for the front/top, the pen CLIP could slide into the loop, the cover would flatten and the front/top edge would align. (Even with extra material, with the pen inside the loop, it will not close because the loop is placed such that the pen lays On TOP of the Mini.
