Review on Weller 7235 Replacement Soldering Pack by Peter Zouhair

For 7200 guns, not the same as 8200 gun nozzles

If you have a 7200 gun, these are the correct nozzles. These tips will work with a Weller 8200 soldering iron, but they are not the same. As some have noted, older 8200 pistols have hex nuts instead of set screws, requiring the rear ends of the tip to be bent. This has always been the case as the bending has to be done after the nuts are fitted to the ends. It would be impossible for them to sell pre-bent ferrules without nuts. If you want a pre-bent version for the 8200 you will need to purchase a Weller 7135n copper soldering iron tip with nuts. If you have an 8200 that uses nuts but still only needs a tip, you'll need a replacement Apex Tool Group 7135W soldering gun. Tip that comes with two tips. If you have a newer 8200 with set screws these 7235 bits will work but not the ones I see in photos with newer 8200 guns. are not other brands. but why you can't do the same then read on. If you have the 7200, this is the original replacement you need. Although the individual ferrules were kept rigid without nuts for the 8200, the length of this set has changed. Because the wide end of the tip is the same length and shape as the 8200 tips, starting with the bend, you can bend the wide ends and still fit things in your gun. If you look at the front of this grommet, you can see that the narrow end is half an inch shorter than on the 8200 pistols. This means there is enough room on the wide end to thread through the nuts and bend , but that means the overall length is reduced by about half an inch. This also means they should fit fine on newer pistols with set screws, but if the narrow end of your tip is currently longer you won't get the same. The illustrations show how they relate to 8200 pistol tips.
