I have cast iron grates and was concerned they would not work as the grates are flat rather than round. But it works great! I like that it cleans without fear of the metal bristles falling out. It's not all cleaning tools. You'll have to scrub the grill with something more abrasive to really clean it. It just helps with the cleanup between picking and laying down new meat. After that, I use a paper towel to wipe away the buildup on the tips. When I go into storage I wipe it down with a very light coat of mineral oil. The same material you use for wooden cutting boards. It already has a very light mineral oil coating and the grill will burn anything it comes in contact with. For what it's worth, the store with the giant yellow smiley face (***mart) has exactly the same tool. If you need it immediately. Same price too.
