Review on πŸ”§ IWISS Battery Cable Lug Crimper: Heavy Duty Tool for 8-1/0 AWG Wire Lugs with Wire Shear Cutter by Kaveen Reyes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It did an impressive job crimping two solid 12ga copper wires into a 10-18 copper barrel with a 6mm slot.

I did a test crimp and after several days of testing it is still strong. I haven't tried clamping the test crimp in a vise and pulling with pliers, but it will take that much force to separate the wires. That's a lot more reliable than the crimps the pros left in the junction box. A plier-sized ratchet crimp tool did a good job, but the two arms gave the crimp a lot more power. I modified the junction box with 12 ga copper ground wires with steel ferrules and pigtails. I only needed two crimps, but they are critical. I didn't have enough free hands to attach the two wires and ferrule together for a two handed crimp and had to use a ratcheting hand crimp tool to start the crimp. Then partially roll up the sleeve until wings form on the sides, then rotate the jaws 90 degrees and press the flat side of the wings back into the crimp. With only two crimps, I wanted something that could come in handy on my next independent project. Thanks to the seller for answering my question about being able to make this crimp. Actually it can. Now we know. Photo: ratchet press for setting parts. Make another pass on the flanged end of the 10-18 socket.
