This doorstop works well on specific doors and floors, but not in large gaps. Firstly, note that although this is a 2 piece set, you will NOT receive 2 doorstops. Instead, you will receive a doorstop and a holder in case the doorstop is not in use. This doorstop is made of flexible rubber material. It has texture on the top to grip the bottom of the door. The holder is made of hard plastic and has an adhesive backing for attaching to a door, wall or baseboard to hold the doorstop when not in use. I use this doorstop with a vinyl plank floor. I have not tried carpet or other floor coverings. What I found is that you have to push the door really hard against the doorstop so that it squeezes the top of the doorstop for it to work. Otherwise, the doorstop will simply slide slowly across the floor and the door will close. My doors aren't heavy doors, but they still close if I don't actually push the door all the way shut. It wouldn't be my first choice for a doorstop for that reason, but it works.
