I was a bit nervous after reading the one star reviews. Having used it to sharpen 6 large kitchen knives, I'm fairly convinced that many of the 1 star reviewers didn't take the time to read or watch videos - I highly recommend checking out some YouTube videos. 1 is a powerful tool. , so let the tool do all the work! No pressure is required - you let the weight of the blade do the work. This also means you won't press the blade into the rest (I haven't had the scratching issues others have mentioned, but it's a good idea to use masking tape to protect the polished blades) 2 - You won't round off the tip, if you read the instructions - stop the belt before removing the knife and do not pull the tip from the belt! Sand. I will update the review if I encounter any quality issues noted in some of the reviews.
