Great instructions!

When I first opened this kit, I was dissapointed by how little was in it. It was just a few small packets floating around the box. As a gift, it is not very impressive. But, my 5 year old daughter was delighted to receive it and wanted to get started immediately. The clay is a little hard to work with at first, but as you knead it it becomes more workable. It is hard to get it to stick together, we found we had to carefully squoosh the edges of pieces together with the included stick or any pieces we had combined would fall apart. Once smooshed, they stick. The included shaping tool is very, very useful. It is great for faces and details and will remain in our modelling clay box. The instruction booklet is very, very good. My 5 year old followed the instructions to make most of the creations herself. The eyes for the critters are teeny little metal Brads, which work well as eyes but I'm not sure having metal pokey things in your eraser is a good plan if you actually want to erase with it. We were able to make 16 small erasers from the kit. There is enough clay to complete everything in the booklet if you work small. There is also an included paper card kitchen display so you play with or show off your creations when they are done. The clay droops a little when baked, but it does solidify into beautiful erasers. Despite my initial hesitation, I do recommend this kit, though the presentation doesn't look very gift worthy. The instructions and modelling tool make up for it.
