Review on Walker Exhaust Spring Bolt 35129 by Chris Litton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exact OEM replacement. Exactly what I expected.

2000 Honda Civic LX, D16Y7 engine 230,000 miles with original "A" front pipe, approximately 75,000 miles with replacement original "B" pipe (both Minnesota winters and exposed to road salt) . Aside from rust on used parts, new screws and springs appear identical to them. Of course, the original rusty springs were slightly shorter with use; The replaced ends of the springs were tapered like the originals and fitted snugly to the pipe flange and bolt heads. The plug gasket fit well after carefully cleaning all the metal mating surfaces of rust and scale and doing a few more things: After fitting the female part of the gasket to the male end of the A-tube, I inserted it into the female end of that B pipe. I pushed the gasket further onto Tube A by gently tapping the flange of Tube B with a hammer. Just in case, I alternated sides of the flange left and right on every alternate hammer blow until the gasket stopped moving forward. Using VERY LARGE PLIERS, I bring the ends of the tubes together and compress the springs on the connecting bolts. onto the connecting bolts far enough to begin tightening the nuts. Just because it's my style, I put a high temperature anti-seize compound on the threads of the bolts (probably nothing will change after another winter). I also installed 5/16" stainless steel washers between the nuts and the A-tube flange to help the nut rotate and to protect the rusty flange from the nut rotating. After 60 miles of riding, the connection remains perfectly still.
