Excellent magnetic heads 1/4 inch!

I bought these small 1/4" magnetic heads because I regularly use 1/4" sockets with locking extensions in places I DON'T want to. drop a bolt (like a cylinder head). So I decided to add some magnetic heads to my collection. I had a lot of experience with other Gray Pneumatic heads so I decided to continue with the brand and I'm glad I did. These heads come with a decent blown case which I quickly threw aside as I prefer socket guides. The frames are made from chromoly so they should be able to handle the abuse they are most likely to be subjected to. expects all sizes laser engraved or printed to wear out quickly. So it was nice to see that they had stamped nest sizes as well. This will definitely help me over the next few years when all the writing wears out. The magnets themselves hold the studs very well. Judging by the looks and grip, it's neodymium. They are very well fixed in the nest and have no problems. Warning: Do not use them on bolts/nuts that you glow red with a flashlight to break up rust as the heat will no longer hold the magnets. At least that was my experience with other magnetic heads. The heads are fairly flat and sometimes half of the screw head is left exposed. It would be nice if the magnets could sit a little deeper in the socket so that I could confidently apply the full force to the ratchet when turning really stubborn screws. So far this hasn't been a huge problem as these magnetic sockets are only used in areas where I have trouble keeping the bolt from dropping down a deep, dark hole. Overall I would highly recommend them to anyone who has had the frustration of dropping small bolts in really hard to reach places.
