Review on 🌿 Galápagos (05213) 4QT Natural Terrarium Sphagnum Moss, 5-Star Green Sphagnum - Packaging May Vary by Matthew Bowman

I ordered this to reduce the humidity in my snakes' enclosures. We prefer peat moss and use it in combination with Repti-Bark to give them a very natural habitat. It usually gives really great results (we've been using this combo for a number of years) but this moss doesn't seem to match the results we usually get. The moss itself seems to have a hard time staying wet while most of the mosses we have used retain their properties. Humidity is much longer. I don't know if it was just this batch or this particular product in general, but we've had to increase the frequency of adding moisture since we switched to this particular moss. It still keeps the humidity at the right level when water is added more frequently. There were also several large pieces of bark in our bag. I don't know if this is normal or an accident. This isn't a problem for us as we already use bark in our fences, but those who only use moss as a substrate might have problems with this. I gave it three stars because it does what we need. However, since I have to moisten the moss more often than usual, I honestly can't say that I think this is a high-quality product. In the future I will use another brand that we have had more success with in the past.
