I used this thing to make a 7s10p ebike battery from li-ion batteries. I was skeptical, but I didn't want to spend A LOT more on a serious one since I really only use it for a hobby. I was pleased with this item when it arrived. Plastic housing for batteries and controllers, solid wire connection, clear instructions, and the auto spot weld option are amazing. I ended up doing about 200 spot welds with this thing, using a medium setting for right on the batteries and high or low from high to make bridges just to go through more layers. I charged it fully, did about 1/3 or more spot welds, and paused as the spot weld charge dropped to about 20% or 40% at that point. Then I let it charge to 80%, left the USB C plug in and did the rest. Somehow it never dropped below 80% so it stayed plugged in and spot welded even more. Spot welding close together will heat up the leads because this is where you're basically draining the amperage, especially at a higher setting. I paused, of course, when it got warmer than I'd like, impatiently put a blowing table fan in the area, and then returned there a minute later. Then I started increasing the spot weld time a bit and found a good balance to just keep working. I can only recommend this article for hobbyists/do it yourself. If you're making tons of batteries, you might need something crazier, but I have no complaints about this thing.
