Ease of Use: Welding Equipment and Accessories

I find this machine suitable for spot welding in light conditions. I managed to fix the 18650 battery of a handheld vacuum. After a few failed test welds I decided to give the surface a light sanding and cleaning and it seems to be holding up well. I used a level 4 setting with a 0.1mm thick band.

Good quality! Very important!

I bought this little spot welder to repair/replace some of the lithium ion batteries in my Ryobi battery packs. This little welder is perfect for the job! The kit includes a starter roll of nickel tape, which is enough to fix all of my batteries. The construction looks and feels solid. Very easy to use.

Great for little folks/amateurs

While I can't comment on what others have done/how they have used this spot welder, I haven't had any problems. I bought this to use small batches of batteries for vintage/retro computer restoration. I took it out of the box and immediately plugged it in to charge it to full capacity before attempting to use it. For the light green pack above, I used it at setting 4 in manual mode, held the sensors vertically down over the nickel and battery cell, and pressed the button once. I only give four…

Works perfectly! suitable for spot welders

I wasn't sure if it would be that good as I had never done spot welding before buying it. However, I was able to make my first battery with it and it works very well. That was enough for spot welding and a whole 3s5p 18650 pack and still had over 75% charge left. However, I used the highest setting as the lower settings didn't seem to produce a strong weld. Will I recommend this? Yes, especially if like me you want to experiment with spot welding instead of soldering batteries. Although I can…

Best Value DIY

Judging by the documentation and user reviews, I had no trouble assembling a battery pack for my weed eater. As others have said, it's not very powerful and requires relatively thin metal, mostly nickel, to operate. Since my battery pack had much thicker steel plates connected to the battery, I had to ① use a small chisel to pry up the edge of the connector ② remove the connector with needle nose pliers while twisting the pliers to avoid denting the battery ③ Disconnect the area that attaches…

Very good for what it is

This product is hard to beat when used correctly. I think people who judge this device harshly are abusing it. First, it's a portable, battery-powered welder. You can't expect it to weld all battery strips! It is designed for tapes up to 0.1 mm thick. If you use the right thickness, you can easily weld the strips. You also need to make sure the strips are laying flat to ensure good contact. And finally, a light touch is enough. If you make too good contact with the workpiece, the current can…

Great Budget Battery DIY Spot Welder

I used this thing to make a 7s10p ebike battery from li-ion batteries. I was skeptical, but I didn't want to spend A LOT more on a serious one since I really only use it for a hobby. I was pleased with this item when it arrived. Plastic housing for batteries and controllers, solid wire connection, clear instructions, and the auto spot weld option are amazing. I ended up doing about 200 spot welds with this thing, using a medium setting for right on the batteries and high or low from high to…

Everyone with a bad rating is doing it WRONG

I struggled with this product for 2 days before doing some research and realizing I was using it incorrectly, quite the opposite. If you hold the probes straight up and down and also press really hard, the metal you are trying to weld has very little resistance, so the current will flow with little to no heat, usually without actually welding the strip at all. If it sticks, you can easily remove it. The solution is to apply very LIGHT pressure, only pressing hard enough to make contact with the
