I struggled with this product for 2 days before doing some research and realizing I was using it incorrectly, quite the opposite. If you hold the probes straight up and down and also press really hard, the metal you are trying to weld has very little resistance, so the current will flow with little to no heat, usually without actually welding the strip at all. If it sticks, you can easily remove it. The solution is to apply very LIGHT pressure, only pressing hard enough to make contact with the nickel strip and the top of the battery, and using the SIDES/corners. probes. By using the edges of the probes you get a much smaller contact area which means more resistance and MORE heat in a smaller area needed for a quality weld. This product description even lists these tips, which unfortunately I didn't see or read at first. got absolutely amazing welds. Super strong, I can't even take them off without pliers (which just rip holes in the nickel) and that was only at power level 3/6. I was about to return this product for a refund before finally doing some research and learning these tricks. I immediately went from disappointment to super impressed. I love this thing now that I know what I'm doing the welding is really great and it's frustrating because I now know almost every negative review on here is due to the person using the device incorrectly. This thing isn't power efficient, it's just that the users of this product aren't properly trained. I'm glad I was able to find out before returning it and I hope more people see my comment and know the same. I currently have 2 of these and give 5 stars; Since I learned how to use it properly, I haven't had any more problems. Thanks very much!
