Judging by the documentation and user reviews, I had no trouble assembling a battery pack for my weed eater. As others have said, it's not very powerful and requires relatively thin metal, mostly nickel, to operate. Since my battery pack had much thicker steel plates connected to the battery, I had to ① use a small chisel to pry up the edge of the connector ② remove the connector with needle nose pliers while twisting the pliers to avoid denting the battery ③ Disconnect the area that attaches to the battery and ④ reattach the battery by welding the strips provided to the rest of the manufacturer connector on one side and to the battery on the other side. I did about 3 spot welds on each side and it seems strong enough to hold. Because the batteries are in a hard plastic case, they don't pull the weld very hard anyway, so they're a lot cheaper than other spot welders.
