Review on Fiskars X25 Splitting Axe: 28-Inch Length for Superior Splitting Power by Scott Ramu

To be too good to be true?

Firewood was delivered to me and I put off splitting it because it was always so tedious. Finally came the day of this weekend that could not be postponed. I put the first piece on the chopping block and got hit hard. I had to jump to the side because the ax snapped so easily that the momentum of the swing exceeded all of my expectations. The two shattered pieces lay on the ground, enjoying the moment. It was so easy compared to my old ax that I ended up sharing the burden. Part of the merit is in the sharpness of the axe. I've always been a fan of Fiskars products. Another advantage belongs to the geometry of the axe. The head has the usual thin blade at the leading edge, but widens dramatically as it approaches the hilt. So he bites into the wood and then pushes it apart like a sledgehammer. My old ax was a regular ax, not piercing geometry. This is amazing and I can't believe how many years I've spent not knowing this. If you don't cut down trees, I recommend this for chopping wood for home use. It's just the right weight and well balanced to get the job done.
