I bought this for my almost 4 week old chicks to give them some enrichment during the last 2 weeks in the brooder. A little over three weeks later, they started to get a little bored and angry with each other. It gives them something to do and where to go besides hitting each other. I also gave them some dry millet to peck at and put them in a mini dust bath which they love. In my experience, chicks at this age tend to be discovering their hierarchy and that kind of relieves their stress a bit. I even saw them peck at the bells a couple of times. When they outgrow the brooder I will probably leave it as a perch for the quarantined chicks. And maybe I'll buy some big, heavy chains and find a big, thick branch for my adult chickens.
