Review on πŸ“ Enhanced Precision with HATCHBOX 3D Filament Dimensional Accuracy by Jim Booth

Revainrating 3 out of 5

If you're new to 3D printing, don't even think about it ;)

I've worked with about 10 different filaments from multiple manufacturers (including another hatchbox filament). Sure, I had the usual adhesion issues, but for some reason the orange hatchbox thread wouldn't stick to my build plate (tempered glass with PEI film). I've tried hotter tempos and ended up with lots of strings. I tried lower temperatures and ended up with less adhesion. I slowed down the speed a lot and tried different layer heights. The only thing I could do to make my print last was change the threads. I tried 10 or 12 different combinations of settings hoping to get a good primer with this orange thread but to no avail. with normal PLA). I have a third running at full blast with a third filament (silk PLA) and so far it's looking good. I don't know what other variables I could highlight, so I'm pretty sure I narrowed it down to filament. :(I also measured the filament diameter and it's quite flexible with tolerances. I'm wondering if this could possibly be contributing to my adhesion issues. Some points I measured were within 0.03mm of 1.75mm, but some points i measured were within 0.03mm of 1.75mm, as for exceeding 1.81mm, i will order another brand of orange thread and try next time.

Pros
  • 3D printing filament
Cons
  • boring packaging
