Good value for money if you need a small network segment with a few gigabytes.

I have gigabit service. I was using a D3.1 modem and my connection was up to 800Mbps. When I found a Qhora-301W with two multigig ports, I bought it immediately. I decided I needed a way to remove the bottleneck, so I also bought this switch and a new modem with a 2.5Gbe port. I also took a PCIe 2.5Gbe and 10Gbe card for my desktops. My setup now uses a Motorola MB8611 for one of the Qhora-301W's 10Gbe ports on one of the switch's 10Gbe ports. From my switch I have a short run of reliable shielded CAT 6a cable to my desktop's 10Gbe NIC. I split all 8 2.5Gbe ports into four main ethernet socket groups. With this setting I get a stable speed of 1050 Mbit/s at night and 975 Mbit/s during the day. At first I thought to get a version with four 10Gbe ports, but two is enough for a home network. One for the server and one between the router and the switch. The rest is for desktop or laptop end users who don't need more than 2.5 Gbps on a gigabit internet plan. Even if I had Comcast's 2 Gbps plan, this combination of modem, router, and switch would be more than adequate. The switch was very easy to set up. I had to use QFinder Pro to find it on the network because it has a strange IP address configured for first boot but also checked for a DHCP server. After QFinder found the Switch, it took me about 2 minutes to get started.
