Review on πŸ”Œ D-Link AC1200 Mini Wireless USB Adapter for Desktop and Laptop - Dual Band Wi-Fi, High-Speed Internet Access (DWA-182) by Kevin Young

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Runs without cooling, ideal for N-Speed

This adapter was purchased to replace an almost new defective adapter - a postage stamp sized universal adapter which got very hot and died after 4 months. This D-Link adapter (DWA-182, version C) is about the size of a pack of chewing gum. It is ventilated on both sides and only slightly warmer than room temperature. My internet service runs at 80Mbps when connected with an ethernet cable. This adapter operates at 40-55Mbps with a USB 2 connection, which is more than enough for video streaming and more. Caveats but no cons, this design has been around for several years. The "new" box I received was dirty, perhaps from years of inactivity on a shelf somewhere. I've only tested it with an N-Speed wireless connection, but it claims AC 1200 capability. Win 10 installation is fine after downloading the latest driver (the install disc doesn't work with Win10). When you don't need higher speeds. I recommend this adapter for newer models because of the better ventilation.
