After reading the reviews I decided to give this filter a try. The filter has turned out to be a good buy and yes it has a much better flow rate than the original. The filter has activated carbon. When I first ran water through it to rinse it out, you can see the black color comes out within a few seconds. The water tastes like mineral water! However, note that you must ensure that the o-ring is properly seated at the bottom of the cavity where the filter will be bolted to your particular device. Mine arrived with a loose seal and was hanging out there. I used the end of the teaspoon on the side of the handle to apply pressure and guide the gasket into place. As long as you make sure the o-ring is in the correct position, you shouldn't have any leakage issues. It worked great with my GE Smartwater sink filtration system. I will buy this again!
