Review on SOTO Helix Coffee Maker: A Perfect Brew for Two People by Bethany Baker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

it does not slip off a glass, mug or similar

I bought it for camping. I have some coffee filters: Chemex, glass V60, ceramic V60, fine mesh stainless steel V60 (so you don't need a filter). They all work great except for the last one (which is terrible - it clogs up after every use no matter how hard you clean it). But they are all too bulky for camping so I wanted to try these. And I have to say it's wonderful. It's light, compact and does its job well. I even use the same 02 V60 filters I use for everything else. Also, I never brew just one cup at a time (my wife and I drink at least a cup and a half), so when I make coffee with this thing, I brew a full cup. That's right, it can handle large batches if you're careful (there's a bit of side dripping at first if you don't start slow. I know it's just a piece of stainless steel, but its construction is perfect and the quality is good. And it was a huge improvement on our camping gear. Oh, and it doesn't slip off a can or mug or whatever. I think it's because of the design of the three-legged base, rather than just having two bases like I've had with others models (where there have been complaints of it slipping off the cup).

Pros
  • I look forward to it
Cons
  • There are disadvantages
