Great for spotting broken dog fences

Works like a charm! This is a radio transmitter and receiver. The transmitter is connected to the fence wire and the receiver is the antenna that you swing over the wire. If the cable is not broken, the receiver will receive the radio signal and emit a beep. If you find a place with no signal, it's a broken place. Easy and fast. You disconnect the wires from the fence transmitter. Pick one of the wires and connect the red alligator clip to it and connect the black alligator clip to ground (you may need to stick a metal peg in the ground to secure it). Turn on the transmitter and you will see the volume control. on the website. The transmitter turns the wire into a transmitting antenna. I cranked the volume up more than half, which was probably more than necessary. Turn on the receiver and let the cord dangle. There is a sensitivity volume control on the side. Swing the receiver wire and receiver ("plumb") over the wire and you will hear a beep. The audio stops when the receiver is DIRECTLY ABOVE the cable. This way you know exactly where the wire is. Swing and listen to the sound as you walk around the yard. When the sound COMPLETELY disappears, you know you've passed the break. A little walking and rocking and finding a broken wire end within inches is a breeze. It took longer to connect everything than to find the break.
