This wireless route adapter (essentially an antenna) plugs into a USB port, which you need to ensure the space for your CD-ROM drive in my laptop closes properly (mine barely keeps up), and You need a CD because the driver activates a CD - and if you don't leave the driver CD in the drive - the adapter won't work. What it does is boost the signal strength of a lousy Wi-Fi connection speed from one band to multiple bands on average and many times faster. Without the install I barely had enough signal to get online let alone play a game or chat with friends before it disappeared or shut down completely. This happened about 75% of the time. Very annoying. This $15 adapter works fine. I would recommend it.
