Review on πŸ“Ά Cisco-Linksys WRT600N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link - Ultra RangePlus by Justin Bowen

Great upgrade to 802.11n

I've been using Linksys since I first connected to the internet via cable TV. Linksys/Cisco still make great products. Before I started, I saved my old Linksys router configuration to a file on my PC. I also printed out many of the web administration pages with configuration information. Installing the WRT600N was very easy. I unplugged my old router, ran new cables, and plugged in the 600N. Unfortunately, the EasySetup CD did not work correctly on my PC. The 600N has the same web management interface as my old WRT54G box. So I started IE in [.] and went back to the correct path. I entered all the old settings from the previously created printed pages and saved the configuration. My cable modem was preventing my computers from accessing the Internet. Remember advice from my cable company. I unplugged the 600N and the cable modem briefly and then plugged them back in. After that the cable modem sent the correct IP network settings to the 600N and I googled like crazy again. The 600N has 2 radio bands so my old radios (PDA, cell phone and printer) can connect using 802.11g radio. At the same time, I get faster connection speeds with 802.11n on my laptop. Same network but with different security keys to make it as secure as I can make it. Wireless N makes watching videos much more enjoyable - there are practically no pauses in the video. Response time for shared folders is almost instantaneous. I've read that some Mac users have had issues with the Wi-Fi connection dropping when using the 600N. I've had the 600N up and running for 1 month now with no problems connecting to my Macbook Pro. 600N is a step in my home media system project. I think it was the right choice.
