857006T. This is the part number my boat mechanic gave me to replace the alternator on my 1998 Mercury Optimax. That's why I order this device because the numbers match. When I received the device, I noticed that the connection was completely different. I notified DB Electrical and they very quickly sent a replacement based on a part number I removed from the alternator 834832 myself. Although the connector was perfect, the alternator did not match the engine due to the different dimensions. Overall, the block was too short, the shoulder of one of the mounting holes was too long, and the pulley was completely different. I contacted DB Electrical again and offered a full refund. After clearing that up, I decided to do a little research and read many forums where I noticed that the most common recommendation people made was finding a local shop to fix the original device. So I found an alternator/starter repair shop here in Atlanta, GA (suburb: Mableton, GA). They fixed it for $50 while I stood and waited. I put it back on the motor with no problems and am now just waiting to test it on the water. Do yourself a favour, find a repair shop first. In most cases, you'll spend less money and have fewer headaches this route. While DB Electrical's customer service has been amazing, this review is for the part offered, not the service. If you can't tell the difference from the original, it's dirtier. LAUGH OUT LOUD
